KISS church – Keep It Simple Saints
1. The Simple Church Reaches Up (vs.42, 46-47)
Westminster Catechism – “Man’s chief end is glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.”
Romans 15:6 – “so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 5:9 – “So we make it our goal to please [glorify] him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 – “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
We glorify God by living “a life worthy of the calling you have received.” (Eph.4:1)
John 15:8 – “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
2. The Simple Church Reaches In (42, 44-46)
We reach in to develop and strengthen disciples…
a. Through Corporate Worship and Teaching Times (1 Corinthians 14:26)
b. Through One-on-One Discipleship (2 Timothy 2:2)
c. Through Small Groups (Acts 5:42)
d. Through Personal Quiet Times (Jude 20)
We also reach in to practice true fellowship. (Romans 15:7)
1 John3:16 – “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
3. The Simple Church Reaches Out (v.47)
Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
1 Peter 2:12 – “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God…”
Mark 10:45 – “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
One of the ways we serve is through use of our spiritual gifts.
